Illustration Friday: Lonely

This week's Illustration Friday post. I'm in the middle of moving continents, so a 3 minute sketch will have to do! See everyone again once I'm back in the States.

Illustration Friday: Lost

Here is this weeks entry for Illustration Friday. This is a recent sketch from a graphic novel I'm developing, and it's in a very rough form right now.

Islands of Empire

I've started to develop the visuals for my webcomic/graphic-novel "Islands of Empire"... it is going to be a long process that I'll document elsewhere. Here is one of my sketches of a legless robot companion to the main character. He's meant to carry a blanket of solar panels that keep him (barely) alive, and is dragged around in a Radio-Flyer wagon. This whole project will actually be in black and white, unless I find someone who knows what they are doing willing to color it for me.

Owl on branch

Here is a quick sketch of Owl on a branch... at night... with no background. Colors are a work in progress, as I'm trying to figure out how I'd like to color the book we wrote for Siena. I might just stick with watercolors!

Illustration Friday: Suspend

Here is my entry for this week's Illustration Friday; water color and ink. I was quite happy with my preliminary sketches and color rough for this, but the final product wasn't what I had hoped for... I might return to this one later.

Early Morning Fire

This is a panel from my "outhouse" story, with some minimalistic color applied (in Inkscape). For some reason I really like these blown-up sketches, which at times are hardly recognizable! If I ever put out this mini-comic, I plan to stick to really basic color... mostly because that's the best I can do!

Illustration Friday: Refresh

Here is my entry for this week's Illustration Friday; water color and pen.

A Life in the Woods

From all of the sketches that I've been doing of my life growing up in Maine, I'm getting inspired to put together a little mini graphic-novel with a collection of stories...not sure if it would have much appeal, but it might be a fun little project. Here is a fake cover put together from a small drawing I did for Siena showing her how we read at night without electricity.

Life with an outhouse

I grew up in a one room shack with no running water or electricity (no joke). We, of course, had an outhouse that was about 50 meters further into the woods, which made getting up and going to the bathroom on a cold winter morning very interesting. This is a short comic that I used to illustrate this to Siena...the last caption was added afterward!
